Q/ What´s your rate? / How do you charge? / Do you have a flat fee per illustration?

A/ I charge by the simplicity/complexity of the illustration, I don´t use a flat fee,  all illustrations are different.

Q/ Why do you charge by simplicity/complexity?

A/ This is because all projects are unique, so imagine one book is about dragons, another is about toddlers, and another about a cat, all these characters are very different from each other and require different details; the same happens with scenarios, some of my clients don´t need backgrounds meanwhile another will require fully colored background; it will not be the same to illustrate a forest than a city with many urban elements. Some illustrations are very simple and can start as little as $20usd meanwhile another more complex can be + $300usd, it will depend on each project.

Q/ How do you determine the simplicity/complexity of each project? / What are the aspects you take into consideration to provide an estimate?

I take into consideration:

1. Number of characters to be developed

2. Type of characters (Human adults, human toddlers, wild/farm animals, pets, fantasy: fairies, dragons, monsters, etc...)

3. Number and type of different scenarios (a city, a school, the beach, the universe, a living room etc...)

4. Style of illustrations: small/medium/large spot illustrations, single page, double spread, etc...

5. Deadline and flexibility, projects with a short deadline might incur a rush fee, depends on my availability as well.

6. Number of illustrations in total

7. Book size, canvas size, Illustration size

8. Kind of coloring (black & white only or with color)

9. Number of changes

10. If your book will be a picture book or a storybook.

11. If you require promotional illustrations for your marketing, like an avatar, a banner, a video teaser

Q/ Do you charge by hourly rate?

A/ No

Q/ Do you accept royalties?
A/ If you are a small, medium, or new writer no I don´t.  (If you are a big company, publisher, or brand royalties might apply).

Q/ What´s the difference between the estimate and quotation you provide?
A/ The estimate is where I get to know the general aspects and requirements of your book or project so I can have a brief idea of what´s the concept, what kind of characters or scenarios you will like etc..

The final quotation is the final rate after reviewing your manuscript, in this quotation, you will receive a structure proposal of how many illustrations we will need to match beautifully the texts. Please note ALL the material shared regarding the wording, manuscript, and story belongs to you and will remain confidential throughout the whole process.

Q/ What do your estimates and quotation include?
A/ Includes the following stages:

Character/concept development

Sketches, Storyboard, Lineart

Revision and Changes

Colouring

Updates (Sneak peeks through the process, you will be always updated regarding how the project is advancing)

Text Layout

Unique font that I have created exclusively for my clients.

Lifetime Commercial License (Only available for first time, small and medium writers)

Q/ Do you offer payment plans?
A/ Yes I do, I offer fractioned payments by stage of advance or by month.

Q/ If I have a budget can you offer something close to that range?
A/ Yes, on some occasions when a client has a specific budget and after reviewing the manuscript and if it´s feasible  I can propose some ideas where to cut down costs without compromising the quality of my work.

Q/ Do you have a queue?
A/ Yes I do, it allows me to be organized and meet my client's needs, normally my clients book their spot with several months of anticipation.
